Pass Plus
| The Pass Plus scheme is aimed at new drivers to help them become better drivers. It is a 6 module course each module consisting of a one hour lesson. | ![]() |
Pass Plus was designed by the Driving Standards Agency with the help of the driving instruction profession and insurers. When you pass the course you will be sent a certificate which you can use to get an insurance discount. Statistically new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years after passing their test. This is put down to lack of experience. Pass Plus builds on your skills and knowledge to give you more experience.
The Modules
are:
1) Motorway
2) Dual Carriageways
3) Urban Driving
4) Rural Driving
5) All weather Driving
6) Night Driving
At the start of your course your instructor will give you a copy of the 'Pass Plus Pupil's Guide'. This contains all the information you need to know about Pass Plus.
The training sessions
Pass Plus is a practical course and generally speaking all modules will be practical lessons. However the season of the year and other conditions may mean that some modules are given as theory sessions. Generally speaking at least five and a half of the six hours should be spent in the car.
There is no test at the end of the course. You will however be continually assessed during each module.
Recording progress
As you progress through each module, your instructor will record your progress by completing a training report form that you sign and date when you reach the required standard.
Of course, to pass the course you'll need to reach a satisfactory standard in all the modules. .
At the end of the course
When you successfully complete the training you will be sent your Pass Plus certificate. .
